The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council is conducting a fundraising initiative called the "Take a Seat Chair-ity" event, which features an auction of chairs decorated by local artists and community members. All funds raised from the sale will support the council's efforts to promote arts education in Pleasanton schools and the broader community.
The decorated chairs were made available for online purchase starting Wednesday on the council's website, pleasantonarts.org. According to the organization, every entry is available for purchase online except for one specific chair.
Residents who wish to view the items in person have two opportunities. The chairs will be displayed at the Pleasanton Community Band’s Fourth of July Concert on July 4. The viewing window at Lions Wayside Park runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the collection located at the PCAC tent during the event.
A separate reception and sale will take place on Saturday, July 11, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Gallery DaVinci, located at 600 Main Street. This event will allow guests to examine the full collection of decorated chairs and meet the artists who created them.
