Maison Benoit, a French bakery known for its award-winning pastries, will open a second location in downtown Pleasanton. The new shop is scheduled to launch in early 2027 at 337 Main Street, taking over the substantial space previously occupied by a Bank of America branch.
The building sits near the southern entrance to Pleasanton’s shopping and dining district, adjacent to Zachary’s Chicago Pizza. Bank of America closed its Main Street location in August 2024 after customer traffic did not return to pre-pandemic levels.
The branch had been shuttered from March 2020 through December 2022 before reopening, but the bank ultimately decided to leave as many patrons permanently shifted to digital banking or other nearby branches.
Maison Benoit currently operates at 402 Railroad Avenue in Danville, where it opened in January 2024. Founded by Benoit Vialle, who transitioned from technology and wine careers to baking, the shop features head baker Lucile Espeillac, a former employee of the historic Paris restaurant La Tour d’Argent. The bakery serves breads, pastries, coffee, and lunch items including crepes, quiches, and sandwiches.
The establishment gained regional attention in 2025 when it won the grand prize at the Best Croissant San Francisco competition. Its traditional croissants are made with butter imported from Normandy. The win elevated the Danville location to one of the most closely watched pastry shops in the Bay Area, drawing customers from across the region.
