Pleasanton police are investigating an assault outside an apartment complex on the 3600 block of Andrews Drive that left a teenager hospitalized. The incident occurred at 5:44 p.m. on Monday, according to Pleasanton Police Department Lt. Brandon Stocking.
Responding officers were told by a caller that she was outdoors in the complex with two friends when they were attacked by two unidentified suspects. The attackers were described as wearing medical masks. A brief struggle ensued before the suspects fled the scene.
The 17-year-old victim, identified as being from San Ramon, sustained multiple lacerations to his arm. Police stated these injuries were likely caused by a knife or another sharp object, although the victims reported not seeing any weapon during the altercation. He was transported to Eden Medical Center in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The second victim, a 16-year-old from San Leandro, sustained minor injuries and did not require medical transportation. Both individuals received initial aid at the scene before being released or transported as appropriate.
Detectives have described the suspects as two white males, approximately 17 to 18 years old, with short hair. Authorities stated they do not believe the incident was random and that the victims were likely targeted for reasons that are still under investigation.
