A community breast milk drive is scheduled in Pleasanton on Wednesday, Aug. 5, as part of a statewide effort connected to National Breastfeeding Month.
Mothers’ Milk Bank California, a nonprofit milk bank, is working with Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley to hold the event for eligible breastfeeding mothers. Participants can start the donor screening process and give frozen breast milk, according to the organization.
The drive will be held outside the main entrance of the Stanford Tri-Valley hospital at 5555 W. Las Positas Blvd. The scheduled hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The milk bank said the statewide effort is intended to support premature and medically fragile babies. “National Breastfeeding Month is an opportunity to celebrate every breastfeeding journey and the community,” Jennifer Benito-Kowalski, president and CEO of Mothers’ Milk Bank California, said in a press release.
Families who plan to attend can complete a pre-screening process in advance to help determine whether they qualify as donors. More information is available at mothersmilk.org.
