Pleasanton Public Works crews have completed emergency repairs to a broken water main located at the intersection of First Street and Neal Street. Water service has been fully restored to the area, and the roadway has reopened with temporary steel plating in place.

During the repair process, crews identified additional damage to a storm drain pipe crossing Neal Street. To provide a permanent solution, the city has scheduled storm drain replacement work to begin on Tuesday, June 23. This construction is expected to conclude by the end of Wednesday, June 24, with final roadway restoration to follow.

The city has outlined specific traffic adjustments for the upcoming construction period, which will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. One lane of travel will remain open in each direction on First Street. However, the right lane from First Street to Neal Street, near Meadowlark Dairy, will be closed. Additionally, Neal Street will be closed to through traffic. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

This update follows a multi-day repair effort that began on June 15. Initial work involved repairing the broken water main between Neal Street and Spring Street. On June 16, crews reported that the repair was complex and could not be completed overnight, requiring work to resume the following morning. During those earlier phases, westbound traffic and the dairy line lane were affected, and residents were advised to expect jackhammering and construction noise.

Nearby residents and businesses will receive advance notice before the storm drain work begins. The city thanked the community for their patience as crews completed the necessary repairs to restore normal operations and the roadway.
