SAN FRANCISCO, California — Hundreds of thousands of people lined Market Street on Sunday for the 56th Annual San Francisco Pride Parade, one of the largest LGBTQ+ celebrations in the world, under the theme "Resistance in Action."

The parade kicked off at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Market and Beale Streets, winding through the heart of downtown San Francisco to 8th Street, with hundreds of colorful floats, marching contingents, and community organizations participating. ABC7 served as the exclusive broadcast partner of the event.

The parade capped a weekend of Pride events across the Bay Area, including a two-day celebration at Civic Center Plaza, the Trans March on Friday, and the illuminating flag lighting ceremony. The theme "Resistance in Action" reflected the ongoing advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights amid a shifting national political landscape.

The SF Pride Celebration, held annually on the last full weekend of June, remains free and open to all ages. Organizers provided designated viewing areas and audio descriptions to ensure accessibility for people with disabilities.

From glittering floats to Dykes on Bikes leading the parade as a decades-long tradition, the event once again demonstrated San Francisco's role as a global beacon for LGBTQ+ visibility and community. The festivities drew visitors from across the Bay Area and beyond, filling downtown streets with color, music, and celebration.

Pleasanton, located in the Tri-Valley area about 40 miles east of San Francisco, has approximately 80,000 residents and is home to major employers including Workday, Clorox, and Safeway corporate headquarters.
