Paders' Tatis Powers 8-1 Win Over Twins at Petco Park

Tatis Leads Padres Offense

Fernando Tatis Jr. provided the offensive spark for the San Diego Padres, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs in an 8-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday at Petco Park. The Padres (71-60) built a decisive lead that the Twins (63-68) could not overcome in front of a crowd of 40,103.

Tatis opened his multi-hit performance with a solo home run to left field in the third inning. He later singled to center field in the sixth, scoring two runners, before capping his day with a second home run to left-center in the eighth. The Padres also benefited from a two-run double by Rengifo in the sixth and a solo homer by Merrill in the seventh.

Twins Struggle Offensively

The Minnesota Twins managed only one run in the game, coming off a solo home run by Lee to right-center in the fifth inning. Their offense otherwise failed to generate sufficient pressure against the Padres' pitching staff. The Twins finished with a record of 63-68 after the loss.

Buehler Secures Win

Walker Buehler earned the win for San Diego, pitching six innings while allowing four hits and one earned run. He struck out four batters and did not walk anyone. Wandy Peralta and Yuki Matsui combined for three scoreless innings of relief to close out the game.

Peralta pitched two innings with one hit and one strikeout, while Matsui pitched one inning with one hit and one strikeout.

For the Twins, Bailey Ober started but took the loss after pitching five innings. He allowed four hits and one earned run while walking three and striking out three. Kody Funderburk recorded the loss, pitching one-third of an inning and allowing two earned runs. Jeff Hoffman, Travis Adams, and Taylor Rogers also pitched in relief for Minnesota.
