Arenado, Perdomo Power D-backs Past Padres 11-4 in San Diego

Nolan Arenado and Ketel Marte anchored a potent offensive outburst for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who defeated the San Diego Padres 11-4 on Saturday at Petco Park. The away team dominated the scoring, outslugging the hosts and securing a decisive victory in front of a crowd of 44,512.

Early Momentum Shifts

The Diamondbacks established an early lead in the first inning. Nolan Arenado opened the scoring with a home run to right center that traveled 403 feet. Ketel Marte followed with a triple to right, allowing a run to score, and then advanced to the plate where a sacrifice fly by a teammate brought him home.

By the end of the first frame, Arizona had built a 3-0 cushion. The Padres responded in the second inning with a pair of runs, but Arizona extended their advantage to 4-1.

Mid-Inning Surge

Arizona’s offense found its rhythm in the third inning when Arenado delivered his second home run of the game. This shot to left field covered 385 feet and drove in a run, pushing the score to 6-2. The Diamondbacks continued to apply pressure, adding another run in the fourth inning to make it 7-2.

The Padres managed to score twice in the fourth, but Arizona’s lead remained comfortable as the game moved into the second half.

Closing the Game

The sixth inning proved decisive for Arizona. Ketel Marte hit a double to center field that scored three runs, including teammates who had been on base. This blast widened the gap to 10-2, effectively sealing the outcome.

Although the Padres scored in the seventh and eighth innings to make the final margin 11-4, the damage was already done. Brandon Pfaadt earned the win, pitching 7.2 innings while allowing nine hits and four earned runs. He struck out seven batters and walked two.

Ryne Nelson and Zac Gallen provided scoreless relief to close out the game.

For San Diego, Casey Mize took the loss after four innings of work. He allowed seven hits and seven earned runs while striking out one and walking two. The bullpen, including David Morgan, Kyle Hart, Jason Adam, and Wandy Peralta, struggled to contain Arizona’s offensive threat. The Diamondbacks improve to a record of 86-74, while the Padres drop to 89-71.
