Dominant Pitching Performance
Chris Sale delivered a masterful pitching performance to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres at Truist Park on Thursday. Sale (11-6) worked six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out 11 batters and issuing one walk.
His ability to neutralize the Padres' lineup kept Atlanta in the contest despite the offensive output from San Diego.
The Braves' bullpen provided critical support to preserve the win. Dylan Dodd (6) pitched a perfect inning, followed by Tyler Kinley (11) who faced two batters and allowed two earned runs. Danny Young (4) contributed a scoreless frame in relief before Raisel Iglesias (21) closed the game with a perfect ninth inning, recording two strikeouts on two hits allowed.

San Diego took an early lead in the second inning. After a walk to Tatis Jr. loaded the bases, Fernando Tatis Jr. scored, followed by runs from Cronenworth and Fermin on a single by Rengifo to right field, giving the Padres a 3-0 advantage.
Atlanta responded in the bottom of the second when Harris II homered to right-center field, measuring 420 feet, to make the score 3-1. The Braves tied the game in the fourth inning when Albies launched a 398-foot home run to right-center field.
San Diego regained control in the bottom of the fourth when Smith hit a 392-foot home run to right field. The blast drove in Harris II and Dubón, extending the Padres' lead to 5-3. Baldwin added another home run for San Diego in the seventh inning, a 370-foot shot to right field that made it 6-3.
