Pitching Dominance Defines Contest
Robbie Ray secured his seventh straight decision, improving his record to 10-6, as the San Francisco Giants defeated the San Diego Padres 4-1 at Petco Park. Ray pitched six innings for the win, allowing just one earned run on four hits while striking out six batters and walking only one.
The Giants' bullpen provided critical support in the final three innings. Caleb Kilian worked a scoreless inning with one strikeout and one walk. Dylan Smith followed with another shutout frame, recording two strikeouts against one hit. Erik Miller closed the game for his fourth save, retiring the side in order with one hit allowed and one strikeout.
Offensive Output in Early Innings
San Francisco took control early, scoring four runs across the first three innings of play. The Giants' offense was sparked by a powerful showing from Susac, who connected on a home run to left field measuring 406 feet in the second inning. That blast drove in Adames, giving San Francisco a 3-0 lead.
Earlier in the first inning, Devers hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Ramos, providing the initial run of the game. The Giants added another tally in the second when Bogaerts singled to center field, bringing France home to make it 3-1 after the Padres managed a run.
Closing Out the Game
The Giants extended their lead in the fifth inning. Susac hit another sacrifice fly, this time to center field, which brought Devers across the plate for a 4-1 advantage. That would be the final scoring play of the contest.
