Duran powers Texas
Duran drove in four of Texas’ five runs, including the decisive one in the ninth inning, as the Rangers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Duran delivered run-scoring hits in the first, eighth and ninth innings. His ground-rule double in the bottom of the ninth scored Burger and moved Seager to third, giving Texas the final run after San Francisco had tied the game in the top half.
The Rangers improved to 56-58, while the Giants fell to 48-66. Attendance was 26,959.
Rangers strike first
Texas built a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Nimmo doubled to right, scoring Pederson and sending Seager to third. Duran followed with a single to right that brought in Seager and moved Nimmo to third.
MacKenzie Gore helped keep that lead in place with six innings for Texas. He allowed three hits, no earned runs and three walks while striking out four.
San Francisco got five innings from Blade Tidwell, who allowed six hits, two earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts. Jason Foley pitched one inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and no strikeouts.
Giants answer, Duran responds
The Giants pulled even in the top of the seventh on the game’s only home run. Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot shot, scoring Gilbert to make it 2-2.
Texas moved back ahead in the bottom of the eighth. Duran doubled to right, bringing home Langford and Seager and moving Nimmo to third for a 4-2 Rangers lead.
For San Francisco, JT Brubaker worked one inning and allowed one earned run with one walk. Reiver Sanmartin went two-thirds of an inning, giving up three hits, one earned run and one walk while striking out one. Adrian Houser recorded one-third of an inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and no strikeouts.
Ninth-inning finish
San Francisco tied it again in the top of the ninth when Eldridge singled to right, scoring Gilbert and McCray to make it 4-4.
Texas answered in the bottom of the ninth on Duran’s ground-rule double. Jacob Latz earned the win for Texas, improving to 3-1, after allowing two hits, one earned run and one walk with one strikeout in one inning.
Dylan Smith took the loss for San Francisco, falling to 0-4, after allowing two hits, one earned run and one walk with one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning.
