Eddy Piñeiro's status for the 49ers' game against the Dolphins is uncertain because of an illness. The team has listed the kicker as questionable.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers plan to add a kicker to their practice squad Saturday as a precaution. The team is choosing between two candidates, Shanahan said, but has not decided which player to sign.
Running back Kaelon Black is also questionable because of a groin issue. Asked about Black's chances of playing, Shanahan described his level of optimism as "a questionable amount of optimism."
