Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey left the team's Week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals after sustaining a chest injury. He was later listed as questionable to return but did not re-enter the game.
The injury happened while McConkey attempted a catch over the middle. Cardinals linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. made contact with him, and McConkey reached toward his back while on the field. Chargers medical staff treated him before he walked off under his own power and entered the blue medical tent.
McConkey later left the tent and went to the locker room. He had five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown before departing, which made him the Chargers' leading receiver at that point.
Coach Jim Harbaugh did not give an update on McConkey after the game. Quarterback Justin Herbert said, "It’s always tough losing a guy like Ladd, we are hoping for the best but we are thankful for the guys behind that stepped up and have to make plays."
