The Chargers have returned wide receiver Gary Jennings Jr. to their practice squad while releasing long snapper Spencer Triplett from the unit. The team announced the moves Thursday.
Los Angeles waived Jennings several days earlier to make room for tight end Hayden Rucci, but the receiver was added back shortly afterward. Jennings originally joined the Chargers last week after wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith was placed on injured reserve.
The team added Rucci after injuries affected its tight end group, resulting in Jennings’ initial departure. The source did not provide further details about Jennings’ role going forward.
Triplett’s release came one day after Los Angeles signed him to the practice squad. The rookie had taken the spot previously held by Marquez Valdes-Scantling after Valdes-Scantling was moved to the active roster.
Triplett played six seasons at North Carolina. During his final season with the Tar Heels, he was named to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List, which honors top college long snappers each year.
