49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan voiced his concerns regarding the decision to play in Australia, stating that he does not believe it benefits his team. "I was so fired up. That was our goal, to go 19 hours away to play a game," Shanahan remarked, expressing confusion about the time zone changes involved in the trip.
Despite his frustrations, Shanahan acknowledged the excitement of participating in international games, noting that the 49ers are scheduled for two such games this season. He reiterated his desire to play the Rams in a more traditional setting, saying, "I wish we played them here, for what we usually look at as a home game."
Fans have also expressed dissatisfaction with the NFL's decision to hold games overseas.
