Puka Nacua is expected to miss the Los Angeles Rams’ Week 3 matchup in Denver after sitting out the previous game, according to reporting cited by Turf Show Times. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the receiver’s absence is the most likely outcome and that he would be surprised if Nacua plays.
The Rams do not view the issue as long term, but coach Sean McVay said Nacua is “not making great progress.” McVay also said the team would welcome Nacua back if he is available and expressed confidence in the players who would take his place.
Davante Adams produced a large statistical performance during Nacua’s previous absence. Tight end Terrance Ferguson also contributed some of the physical receptions and yards-after-catch work Nacua has provided during his career, including a nine-yard catch and a five-yard touchdown reception in the same drive, according to reporting from the Rams.
Nacua was cleared to play in the Rams’ season opener against the San Francisco 49ers. He received nine targets and finished with five catches for 74 yards in Los Angeles’ 27-7 loss.
