The choice reflects Bennett's familiarity with the offensive system, as this is his fourth year in the program. Coaches view him as a reliable option to manage the scheme and ensure timely ball distribution should Stafford be unavailable. While Simpson performed well during camp and the preseason, Bennett's experience in the specific playbook was cited as a key factor in the decision.
