Stan Kroenke, owner of the Los Angeles Rams, has finalized an agreement to acquire the Los Angeles Angels, marking a significant expansion of his sports portfolio. The deal is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2027, pending standard closing conditions and approval from Major League Baseball.
Arte Moreno, the current owner of the Angels, expressed his satisfaction with the transaction, stating that the Moreno family has been privileged to manage the team for 23 years. He believes that Kroenke Sports & Entertainment is well-suited to lead the franchise moving forward, emphasizing a commitment to fans, employees, players, and business partners.
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment already owns several major sports teams, including the Rams, the Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Avalanche, as well as Arsenal Football Club in the English Premier League. The company also manages various venues, such as SoFi Stadium and Ball Arena.
Arte Moreno's ownership began shortly after the Angels won their only World Series title in 2002. His time with the team saw some success, including five American League West titles and two American League Championship Series appearances from 2004 to 2009.
