The San Francisco 49ers will be without wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and defensive lineman James Thompson Jr. for a period after both players suffered high-ankle sprains in a 35-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates Monday. He said Robinson and Thompson could be placed on injured reserve, a move that would keep them out for at least four weeks.

Robinson had become the team’s third wide receiver amid absences involving Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk and De’Zhaun Stribling. He has five catches for 84 yards and one touchdown through two games. Against Miami, Robinson recorded three receptions for 34 yards before leaving with the injury.

Thompson has played 42 defensive snaps during the first two games while rotating along the defensive line. The 6-foot-6, 308-pound player also is expected to miss time.

The 49ers are 2-0 and are scheduled to host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3. Shanahan said San Francisco could add a receiver to its active roster or practice squad, while Kirk is still expected to be out for a couple of weeks. Shanahan also said Brandon Aiyuk is not an option to return.

Veteran receiver Mike Evans left the Miami game with a hip injury but appeared to be fine, while Romello Height could potentially play after surgery for a broken hand. Further details about their availability were not provided. The injury updates were reported by [sports.yahoo.com](https://sports.yahoo.com).
