Rams coach Sean McVay provided encouraging updates Monday on safety Kam Curl, linebackers Nate Landman and Omar Speights, and tight end Davis Allen after Los Angeles opened the season with a 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Curl left the game during the second half with an ankle injury and was listed as questionable to return. McVay described the issue as ankle soreness and said the veteran safety was doing well. Curl started all 17 games last season, played 99% of the Rams’ defensive snaps and signed a $36 million extension during the offseason.
Jaylen McCollough replaced him and recorded two tackles before leaving the game.
Landman appeared to injure his shoulder and thumb during a late fourth-quarter play involving Christian McCaffrey. McVay said the Rams would take a cautious approach with Landman during practice this week but expects him to play against the New York Giants on Sept. 21.
Speights departed in the first half because of a hip injury and was replaced by Shaun Dolac. Speights later returned to the game during the second quarter.
