The Los Angeles Rams signed safety Maximus Pulley from the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad after placing running back and special teams player Ronnie Rivers on injured reserve. Coach Sean McVay said the move followed a calf injury Rivers sustained while jumping to loosen up, with the injury expected to keep him out for four to six weeks.
McVay said the Rams had fewer available players in the secondary and had previously liked Pulley’s college film. Pulley, an undrafted rookie in 2026, spent his final three collegiate seasons at Wofford, earned first-team FCS All-American recognition and was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the FCS’ top defensive player.
Pulley, 24, made his NFL debut for Philadelphia last week after being elevated from its practice squad. He did not play a defensive snap in that appearance but participated in six special teams plays. He is now part of the Rams’ 53-player roster.
Starting safety Kam Kinchens missed practice Thursday as Los Angeles prepared for a Sunday night game against the Denver Broncos. The Rams planned to elevate either Dean Connors or Jordan Waters to handle the team’s third running-back role for that matchup.
