Los Angeles Rams outside linebacker Myles Garrett needs a knee operation and is expected to be unavailable for at least four weeks, according to the team’s head coach, Sean McVay.
McVay said Garrett’s recovery schedule depends on the surgery and that it was too early to provide a firm timeline. He said the linebacker could potentially return in four weeks, with the team taking his recovery one day at a time.
Garrett played in the Rams’ season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia last week. Los Angeles lost that game 27-7, and Garrett did not record a tackle.
The Rams acquired Garrett from the Cleveland Browns during the summer in a trade described as one of the largest defensive deals in NFL history. Garrett, a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, set the league’s single-season record with 23 sacks last season.
