The Los Angeles Chargers have signed wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. to their practice squad as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 season. This move comes about a week and a half before their Week 1 home game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Wease Jr. was acquired after being waived by the Miami Dolphins, where he played under offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel in 2025. Although he spent most of the previous season on Miami's practice squad, he participated in the final three regular season games, recording six receptions for 139 yards and one touchdown, including a notable 63-yard catch against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Before joining the Dolphins, Wease Jr. began his college career at Oklahoma but excelled at Missouri, where he amassed 109 receptions for 1,566 yards and 10 touchdowns over two seasons.

The Chargers are focusing on enhancing their offensive capabilities this season, having added several new interior offensive linemen and tight ends, along with hiring McDaniel as their offensive coordinator. With McDaniel's reputation as a strong offensive strategist, the team is expected to be more dynamic this year.

The Chargers' wide receiver corps is led by Quentin Johnston, who has consistently achieved over 700 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in the past two seasons. Ladd McConkey, who had a solid but underwhelming 2025 season, is anticipated to have a more impactful role this year.

Other receivers, including Tre’ Harris, Derius Davis, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and Brenen Thompson, round out the group, with Harris expected to take on a larger role following a quiet rookie season.

Further details regarding the team's overall strategy and roster adjustments are not yet clear.
