Rams defensive end Myles Garrett has been placed on injured reserve and is preparing for knee surgery after playing in the team's game in Australia. He is expected to miss at least four games, with a possible return in Week 6 against Arizona.
Garrett had missed much of training camp because of knee swelling and practiced while wearing a sleeve on his left leg. He did not disclose which knee was affected, and the Rams did not provide additional details in the report.
His performance in Australia included no tackles. He recorded one pressure in 11 pass-blocking matchups involving Trent Williams and four additional pressures during 39 defensive snaps against the rest of the opposing offense.
Garrett acknowledged afterward that he had not played at his usual level. "I've got to be better," he said, adding that he needed to recover and return to the player he had shown he could be.
The Rams are scheduled to play the Giants, Broncos, Eagles and Bills before Garrett is eligible to return against Arizona, according to the report. Garrett joined Los Angeles in a trade after the team sent Jared Verse to another club. The report described Garrett as a $125 million investment for the Rams.
