The San Francisco 49ers are set to sign veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to their practice squad, according to a report from sports.yahoo.com. Cooks recently worked out for the Baltimore Ravens before choosing to join San Francisco.
The move comes as the 49ers manage several injuries at wide receiver. Demarcus Robinson sustained an ankle sprain in Week 2, while Mike Evans has a hip injury from the team's victory over the Dolphins.
San Francisco is also without Ricky Pearsall, who is out for the season, and De’Zhaun Stribling, who is expected to miss a couple of months after ankle surgery.
Cooks spent last season with the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills. He was the intended receiver on an interception during the playoffs that helped the Denver Broncos eliminate Buffalo.
