Pleasanton Unified's school board is scheduled to vote Thursday night on a tentative contract with the union representing its classified employees, the district staff who work outside the classroom teaching ranks.
The agreement with the California School Employees Association Chapter 155 rewrites several working rules, according to the Pleasanton Weekly's review of the meeting materials. It updates work-year calendars, clarifies how overtime is handed out and changes how vacation time accrues. Language on evaluations, leaves of absence and reclassification was also revised.
Pay provisions
The deal suspends the district's professional-growth compensation program for one year. It is set to return in July 2027.
It also carries a "me too" clause. According to a staff report, if the Association of Pleasanton Teachers negotiates a bigger salary increase than classified staff receive, the larger raise would be applied to classified salaries as well.
In a separate vote, trustees will consider a memorandum of understanding with the same union that brings back degree stipends for classified employees in the 2026-27 fiscal year. Those one-time stipends had been suspended as part of the budget-reduction plan the district adopted last year.
The 2026-27 budget approved in June included $11.685 million in new one-time state money, and in August the board chose to spend part of it on reinstating the stipend, the Weekly reported.
