**Pleasanton, California** — Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry received the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award at the Sports Humanitarian Awards in New York on July 14.

The award recognized Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, for the work of their Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. The organization was launched in 2019 to support youth development in Oakland.

Lonnie Ali, president and chief executive of the Muhammad Ali Center, presented the honor. Curry said Oakland had supported his family since he joined the Warriors in 2009 and that the foundation aims to meet young people where they are.

The program was part of ESPN's 12th annual Sports Humanitarian Awards. The award recognizes athletes whose continuing leadership has produced measurable community impact through sports.

For East Bay readers, the recognition centers on a Warriors player whose foundation work is based in Oakland, across the bay from Pleasanton.
