Pleasanton, California — The San Jose Sharks signed defenseman Libor Hajek to a one-year, two-way contract July 8, the team announced.
Hajek, 28, spent the 2025-26 season with HC Dynamo Pardubice in the Czech professional league. The Sharks said he had 13 points in 44 regular-season games and helped the club win its league title.
Before returning to Czechia, Hajek played 110 NHL games over parts of five seasons with the New York Rangers. He also has American Hockey League experience with several organizations.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel reported that Hajek joins a group competing for NHL roster places during training camp. The agreement is for one season and carries a two-way designation, according to the club.
