The two Democrats who fought a summer special election for the East Bay House seat that includes Pleasanton will share a stage again next week, this time with a full two-year term at stake.
The Dublin Chamber of Commerce is hosting a forum for the 14th Congressional District race from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Holiday Inn in Dublin, according to the Pleasanton Weekly. KPIX-5 journalist Juliette Goodrich will moderate. Doors open to the public at 4:30 p.m., and the 275 seats will be filled first come, first served, with overflow space available.
A rematch
Rep. Aisha Wahab of Hayward and Melissa Hernandez of Dublin, a BART board member, met in an Aug. 18 runoff to finish the term of former Rep. Eric Swalwell, who resigned in April. Wahab, previously a state senator, won that runoff with 53.1% of the vote to Hernandez's 46.9%, and Speaker Mike Johnson swore her in on Sept. 2.
In the June 16 special primary, Wahab led a crowded field with about 43% of the vote, while Hernandez placed second with about 17%.
