Rays Strike Early and Often

Casey Legumina followed with another scoreless frame, recording one hit and one strikeout. Michael Grove closed out the game with two innings of work, though he allowed two hits and two earned runs, finishing with two strikeouts.

For the Athletics, Jack Perkins took the loss after five innings of work. He surrendered 12 hits and six earned runs, striking out two batters. Drew Rom pitched a hitless inning with one strikeout.

Scott Blewett also pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one hit. Hayden Juenger gave up two hits and one earned run over his inning, while Seth Johnson allowed one walk in his final frame.

The Rays added an insurance run in the eighth inning when Franco singled to center, allowing Margot to score from second base. The Athletics attempted a rally in the same inning, with Choo homering to left center for a solo shot. Butler followed with a 426-foot home run to right center, making the final score 8-4.
