Project Overview

The Sassafras Court Storm Drain Interceptor Project will install a vault to capture and hold creek debris before stormwater enters the public pipe network on Oak Tree Farm Drive. The structure will be built within an easement that provides sufficient operating area for maintenance equipment. This setup allows city crews to remove accumulated tree branches and sediment for disposal. Operations staff within Public Works have historically found clearing debris from this location burdensome.

Procurement Process

Staff conducted a competitive bidding process in accordance with the City Procurement and Contracting Procedures. Five bids were received during the evaluation period. Frontline General Engineering, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid. Staff recommends the council authorize the City Manager to execute a construction contract with the firm.

Budget and Authorization

The council is asked to approve plans and special provisions for the project. The authorization includes a construction contract in the amount of $284,951. The council will also authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute contract change orders from a project contingency not to exceed $44,843. This establishes a total authorized construction budget of $329,794, excluding construction support services.
