Angels Offense Ignites in Later Innings

Mike Trout led the Los Angeles Angels offensive attack with two hits, including a pair of singles, as the team secured a 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers at Angel Stadium on Thursday. The win improved the Angels’ record to 47-74, while the Rangers fell to 60-61.

The Angels struck first in the second inning when Andrew Seager’s home run to right field, measuring 378 feet, gave them a 1-0 lead. Texas responded in the third inning when Trout’s single to center field allowed Adolis García to score, tying the game at 1-1. However, the Angels’ offense broke through again in the sixth inning with a four-run surge that shifted the momentum.

Pitching Performances Define Outcome

George Klassen earned the win for Los Angeles, pitching six innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits. He walked one batter while striking out five. Blake Weiman and Ryan Watson each pitched scoreless innings to preserve the lead, with Weiman recording one strikeout and Watson adding another.

Ben Joyce closed the game with a perfect inning, striking out one batter to secure the save.

For the Rangers, Cal Quantrill started on the mound, pitching five innings with one earned run allowed on four hits. He struck out six batters but was relieved by Robby Ahlstrom, who struggled in his 0.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits. Peyton Gray pitched 0.2 innings without allowing a run but gave up one hit.

Ben Peoples pitched one inning, allowing one earned run and striking out one, while Cole Winn closed out the game with a scoreless inning.

The Rangers’ only run came in the seventh inning when Evan Carter’s infield single allowed Corey Seager to score. The Angels’ six runs were distributed across the second, third, and sixth innings, with Trout contributing to two of those scoring plays.
