Game Progression
The Dodgers struck first in the opening frame when Muncy hit a sacrifice fly to third, allowing Freeman to score and giving Los Angeles a 1-0 advantage. The Rockies responded immediately in the bottom of the first, with Carrigg doubling to center field to drive in McCarthy, tying the game at 1-1.
The momentum shifted in the third inning when Ohtani’s home run put the Dodgers ahead 3-1. Colorado trimmed the deficit later in the frame as Rumfield and Norby both doubled, scoring Castro and Rumfield respectively to tie the contest at 3-3.
Los Angeles broke the tie again in the fourth inning. Tucker’s double to right field brought Edman home, followed by T. Hernández doubling to score Tucker, making it 5-3. Freeman then added an RBI single with a sacrifice fly to center, extending the lead to 6-3.
The Rockies mounted a comeback attempt in the fifth when Castro homered to left center, cutting the gap to 6-4. The Dodgers answered in the sixth as Freeman singled to left, driving in T. Hernández to make it 7-4.
