Shohei Ohtani delivered a pivotal blow for the Los Angeles Dodgers, launching a two-run home run to right center field in the third inning. The 448-foot shot extended the Dodgers’ lead and proved crucial in their 7-6 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Eric Lauer secured his eighth win of the season by pitching five innings for Los Angeles. He allowed seven earned runs on eight hits while striking out six batters, navigating a high-scoring affair that required support from his bullpen to close out the game.

Game Progression

The Dodgers struck first in the opening frame when Muncy hit a sacrifice fly to third, allowing Freeman to score and giving Los Angeles a 1-0 advantage. The Rockies responded immediately in the bottom of the first, with Carrigg doubling to center field to drive in McCarthy, tying the game at 1-1.

The Rockies mounted a comeback attempt in the fifth when Castro homered to left center, cutting the gap to 6-4. The Dodgers answered in the sixth as Freeman singled to left, driving in T. Hernández to make it 7-4.

Colorado rallied in the eighth inning when Veen singled to right, scoring Castro to make it 7-5. The Rockies completed their rally in the ninth inning with Castro singling to left field to score McCarthy, bringing the final score to 7-6.

The Dodgers’ bullpen held firm after Lauer’s outing. Jack Dreyer and Edgardo Henriquez each pitched one scoreless inning, striking out two batters apiece. Evan Phillips worked 0.2 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits. Tanner Scott closed the game with 1.1 innings of work, earning his 17th save.

For Colorado, Ryan Feltner took the loss, falling to 5-7 on the season. Parker Mushinski, Jimmy Herget, Zach Agnos, and Jordan Romano each pitched one inning for the Rockies, combining for a scoreless effort in relief.
