Tarik Skubal made an immediate impression in his home debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers, delivering six strikeouts over five innings as Los Angeles edged the Kansas City Royals 6-5 at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday. The victory improved the Dodgers’ record to 71-48, while the Royals fell to 49-71.
Skubal navigated through four hits and three earned runs, walking two batters before exiting the game. His performance set the stage for a bullpen effort that ultimately secured the win in front of 51,799 fans.
Early Scoring Sets Stage
Kansas City jumped out to an early lead, putting pressure on the Dodgers’ pitching staff from the first inning. In the top of the first, Caglianone delivered a single to center field, allowing Witt Jr. to cross the plate for a 1-0 Royals advantage.
The Royals extended their lead in the third inning when Caglianone launched a 410-foot home run to right-center field, driving in Loftin and pushing the score to 3-0. Los Angeles responded promptly in the same frame. Ohtani doubled to center, scoring Feduccia to make it 3-1. Freeman then singled to left, bringing Ohtani home and cutting the deficit further to 3-2.
Sixth-Inning Surge Changes Game
The momentum shifted dramatically in the sixth inning when Los Angeles broke open a tight contest. Muncy doubled to right field, triggering a three-run rally that included scores from Edman, Tucker, and Rojas. Muncy advanced to third base as the Dodgers took a 5-3 lead.
