Pleasanton police are investigating the deaths of two adults found in a residence on the 4600 block of Jefferson Court. The incident is being treated as a possible murder-suicide, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.
Officers responded to a welfare check at the home on Wednesday evening at approximately 7:16 p.m. The request for a check came from a nearby tenant who had been unable to reach the residents for several days. Upon entering the property, law enforcement discovered a woman with gunshot wounds in one area of the house and a man with a gunshot wound in another room.
A handgun was located next to the male victim.
The individuals have been identified as Shelly Wang, 64, and Evgeniy Ilin, 39. Police stated that Wang owned the home and was renting a room to Ilin. Investigators determined that both individuals had likely died several days prior to their discovery. The motive behind the incident remains unknown.
On the same day, a separate incident occurred in unincorporated San Ramon, where one person was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound and another woman was hospitalized after sustaining an apparent gunshot wound. A spokesperson for the Pleasanton Police Department told Patch that the two incidents do not appear to be connected.
