Lighthouse Baptist Church in Pleasanton hosted its annual First Responder Appreciation Sunday on Aug. 23. The event was designed to acknowledge the work of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel from the Tri-Valley area. Church leaders cited the dedication, service, and sacrifice these individuals provide to the local community as the reason for the gathering.
Pastor Bill Bryson addressed the attendees, expressing gratitude to the first responders present. He also acknowledged the families of these workers, noting the support and sacrifice they provide. Following his remarks, Bryson led the congregation in a prayer for those who serve the public.
Bryson stated that recognizing these individuals is a joy because they are heroes. He added that his words could not fully express his appreciation for their work, both for the general public and for the church specifically. He noted that the community can rely on these professionals when they need assistance.
Several officers spoke to the congregation, thanking the church and the broader community for their support. While multiple firefighters attended the service, church officials noted that some were called away to respond to incidents during the event.
