Residents in and around Danville, which is located approximately 13 miles northwest of Pleasanton, have a variety of options for celebrating the Fourth of July. The holiday falls on a Saturday this year, creating a three-day weekend from July 3 through July 5. Many local gatherings are highlighting the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, also known as the semiquincentennial.
In Danville, the Kiwanis Club is organizing its 51st annual parade. The event begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday at San Ramon Valley High School and concludes at noon. Floats will travel from the high school to Town and Country Drive. The San Ramon Valley Unified School District has been named the grand marshal for the 2026 procession.
Neighboring cities are offering diverse activities. Walnut Creek will host a free community concert at Civic Park from 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, featuring patriotic music and marches. In San Ramon, the 40th annual Independence Day race will take place at Central Park starting at 7 a.m. The event includes 5k and 10k races, followed by performances from the Olympia Fields Brass and the band Cheeseballs. Food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.
Dublin Sports Grounds will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday for the Red, White & Blue Backyard Bash. The festival includes live entertainment, vendor booths, games, and activities for all ages. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
Pleasanton offers two main events. The 24th annual Community Concert Band celebration begins at 12 p.m. at Lions Wayside Park, featuring a volunteer-led picnic with hot dog lunches. Later that day, the Alameda County Fair at its fairgrounds will host a full day of rides and entertainment, ending with a fireworks display.
Livermore provides several family-friendly options. The municipal airport will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday for a celebration featuring military aircraft, jets, helicopters, and emergency vehicle displays. The Robert Livermore Aquatic Center will host a pool party at 12 p.m. with music, lawn games, and food trucks. Additionally, the Independence Day Dash 5k and kids run will take place at Sycamore Grove Park on Friday, July 3, at 8 a.m.
