Good News Bears, a Pleasanton-based nonprofit organization, is searching for donated or low-cost storage facilities as its current lease expires on December 31, 2026. The charity collects and prepares stuffed animals that are distributed to children and families in crisis through first responders, medical agencies, and social services.
The group requires at least 400 square feet of clean, dry space in the Livermore or Pleasanton areas. Volunteers need access during evenings and weekends to receive donations, organize inventory, and prepare the items for gifting. The organization is prioritizing locations that are secure and easily accessible for sorting sessions.
Jeanie Haigh, vice chair of Good News Bears, stated that the charity has been rebuilding its network of donors and community partners since recovering from pandemic-related shutdowns. Those with available space or connections to potential hosts are encouraged to contact Lisa Kitzmann via email or through the organization’s Facebook page.
In other local news, Foothill High School freshman Anvesha Tiwari has launched Strum and Hum, a music education workshop covering guitar, vocals, and Hindustani Classical singing. The program aims to build performance confidence and provide students with a platform to share their talents with community partners.
Tiwari noted that the project serves the East Bay Tri-Valley area through in-person or virtual classes. The group is preparing for its first public performance at a community senior center. Interested individuals can reach out via email for more information or to host a performance.
