Pleasanton Police Department officers discovered the bodies of two individuals inside a home on Jefferson Court late Wednesday night. The discovery occurred during a welfare check initiated by a neighbor who lives near the property.
The neighbor alerted authorities after being unable to reach his neighbors, Shelly Wang and Evgeniy Ilin. He requested that police verify their well-being due to the lack of contact.
Upon entering the residence, officers found 64-year-old Wang deceased from gunshot wounds. In a separate room, they located 39-year-old Ilin, who also had sustained a gunshot wound. A handgun was found near Ilin's body.
Investigators determined that both individuals had died at least several days prior to the discovery. Wang was the homeowner, and Ilin was her tenant, renting a room within the house.
The Pleasanton Police Department is currently treating the incident as a potential murder-suicide. The motive behind the deaths remains unknown at this time.
