San Ramon, located approximately 10 miles northwest of Pleasanton, is preparing to host two major events on July 4 to mark America’s 250th Independence Day. The celebrations include the 40th annual Run San Ramon and a free evening concert featuring live music and food vendors.
The running event begins in the morning at the San Ramon Community Center, situated at 12501 Alcosta Blvd. Registration and check-in open at 7:00 a.m. The Fastest Mile race starts at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 5K and 10K races at 8:30 a.m. The course is a paved loop through the city, with an out-and-back option for the fastest mile. All participants receive a commemorative short-sleeve shirt, bib, and medal bearing the 2026 logo. The race utilizes chip timing.
Parking for the run is available at the Iron Horse Middle School. The city has designated specific areas for ADA parking and for loading and unloading.
In the evening, the community is invited to a free concert at Olympia Fields. The Olympia Fields Brass will perform at 5:00 p.m., followed by a concert from The Cheeseballs, an internationally traveling dance band, at 6:00 p.m. The Cheeseballs will perform funk and soul hits from the 1980s, 1990s, and contemporary music. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. Beer, wine, and food from trucks will be available for purchase. There will be no fireworks display.
