The Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program (SPP) has been launched to support the acquisition and development of new parks, as well as the renovation or expansion of existing parks in communities that are critically underserved and vulnerable to climate change.
Eligible applicants for the program include cities, counties, districts, joint powers authorities, and nonprofit organizations. Applications must be submitted online by December 17, 2026, with no matching funds required. Grant requests can range from a minimum of $200,000 to a maximum of $8,500,000.
The program prioritizes projects in economically disadvantaged areas that lack sufficient parkland. It encourages designs that incorporate community input through planning and partnerships with health organizations. The grant can cover 100% of the total project costs, but if additional funding is needed, it must be secured at the time of application.
The total estimated funding available for this grant program is approximately $188,500,000, with the expected number of awards to be determined after the application deadline. Award announcements are anticipated in the summer of 2027, and the funds must be utilized by June 2031.
