Xander Sánchez provided the pivotal moment for the San Diego Padres with a double to left field in the 11th inning that scored Bae, giving San Diego a 3-2 lead. The extra-inning drama concluded moments later when Luis Campusano singled to right, allowing Song to cross the plate and secure a 4-3 victory for the home team.
Sánchez also contributed earlier in the contest with a first-inning home run to left, measuring 372 feet, which gave the Padres an early 1-0 advantage.

The Brewers responded in the third inning when William Contreras singled to center, allowing Sal Frelick to score on a fielding error by Padres center fielder Jackson Merrill.
