Late Rally Decides Tight Contest
Eugenio Suarez delivered the decisive blow with a four-run home run to left center in the bottom of the ninth inning, driving in De La Cruz, Stewart, and Bleday to give the Cincinnati Reds a 9-9 tie. The away team then added two more runs to seal the 10-9 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
The game featured a total of six home runs and ended with the Reds holding a 63-71 record while the Giants fell to 54-79. Attendance at Oracle Park in San Francisco was 24,130.
Offense Takes Over Early
The Giants took an early lead in the second inning when Trevor Story’s single scored Myers, followed by a two-run home run by Cox to center. The Reds answered in the same inning with a solo shot by Rodriguez to center, tying the game at 2-2. San Francisco extended its lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning on a two-run homer by Devers to right.
The Giants increased their advantage to 6-2 in the sixth inning when Whitcomb hit a two-run homer to left center, scoring Koss.
Final Innings Flip the Script
The Reds began their comeback in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Hayes. The momentum shifted dramatically in the eighth inning when Gilbert’s double to center brought in Hill, McCray, and Knizner, cutting the deficit to 3-6. In the top of the ninth, Rodriguez hit a solo home run to right to make it 4-9.
Suarez then hit his four-run homer to left center to tie the game at 9-9. The Reds scored the final two runs in the bottom of the ninth, with Myers scoring on a sacrifice fly by Trevino and McLain crossing the plate on a single by Stephenson.
Pitching Performance
Cincinnati’s Nick Lodolo pitched four innings, allowing six hits and four earned runs while striking out five batters. Julian Garcia followed with two innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs. Tony Santillan earned the win with one inning of work, allowing two hits and three earned runs.
Emilio Pagan recorded the save with one inning of work, allowing one hit and striking out two batters. For San Francisco, Logan Webb pitched six innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out six batters. Dylan Smith took the loss, pitching one-third of an inning and allowing four hits and two earned runs.
