A Dominant Start from the Mound

Gavin Williams delivered a commanding performance on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five and two-thirds innings to secure the win for the Cleveland Guardians. The right-hander allowed just four hits and two earned runs while issuing three walks. His effectiveness limited the San Francisco Giants' offensive threat, setting the tone for a decisive 5-2 victory at Progressive Field on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

The Guardians' bullpen maintained the lead, with Cade Smith recording the save in his 32nd appearance of the season.
