Aaron Donald has officially returned to the Los Angeles Rams after a two-year retirement, and he is confident in his ability to perform at a high level. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year stated, "Do I feel like I can play at a high level? Yes. Do I feel like I can still be myself? 100%."

The 35-year-old defensive tackle participated in his first practice session with the team on Sunday, following his retirement after the 2023 season. Despite his time away from the league, Donald believes his training has kept him in top shape. He mentioned that he meticulously recorded his training and conditioning to ensure he was ready for his comeback.

"I studied myself to a 'T'," Donald said, adding that he sees no difference in his performance.

Donald re-joins a Rams defense that has seen significant changes this offseason, including the addition of cornerback Trent McDuffie and the signing of Jaylen Watson. The Rams also traded for reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, which has sparked discussions about Donald's return.

He remarked on the strength of the defensive line, noting the talent present with players like Byron Young and Jared Verse.

The team is preparing for their Week 1 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia, but it remains unclear if Donald will be ready to play in that game. Rams head coach Sean McVay stated that they will take things one day at a time regarding Donald's readiness for the season opener.

Regardless of when he returns, Donald's presence is expected to bolster the Rams' defense as they aim for a successful season. McVay expressed excitement about having Donald back, indicating that the team is ready to integrate him into the lineup whenever he is prepared to play.
