Ladd McConkey did not take the field during the Los Angeles Chargers' 27-7 preseason win against the Houston Texans on Thursday.
Alongside McConkey, teammates Tre' Harris and Quentin Johnston were also sidelined, allowing JaQuae Jackson, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and rookie Brenen Thompson to receive the majority of snaps at wide receiver during the game.
McConkey experienced a decline in his performance from his rookie year to his second season in 2025. However, with the departure of veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen and the hiring of new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, there is potential for McConkey's production to improve in the upcoming 2026 season. Further details regarding McConkey's status and future performance were not provided.
