Marlins Pitching Shines in Sacramento
Sandy Alcantara delivered a masterclass on the mound for the Miami Marlins, pitching eight scoreless innings to secure the win. Alcantara allowed just six hits and one earned run while striking out eight batters. He walked only one hitter, maintaining tight control over the Athletics lineup throughout the majority of the contest. Tyler Zuber closed out the game with a perfect ninth inning, recording one strikeout while allowing two hits and one earned run. The combined effort from the Marlins’ bullpen ensured that the Athletics could not mount a significant comeback after the early deficit.
Lopez and Stowers Provide Offensive Firepower
Luis Lopez was the primary catalyst for Miami’s offense, contributing significantly with both his bat and his presence in the lineup. Lopez launched a two-run home run to left field in the third inning, measuring 375 feet, which gave the Marlins a 3-0 lead after Hicks scored. He later added another run in the fifth inning when he doubled to left field, allowing Sanoja to score. Lopez’s impact extended into the ninth inning as well, reaching second base after a single by Edwards.
Stowers also provided critical offense for Miami, hitting a two-run home run to left-center field in the seventh inning. The blast, which traveled 377 feet, extended the Marlins’ lead to 6-0 after Hicks scored. Stowers later crossed home plate in the ninth inning on Edwards’ single, pushing the score to 7-1. These home runs accounted for three of the game’s total home runs, highlighting the power display by the visiting team.
