Tatis Jr. Leads Padres Offense
Fernando Tatis Jr. was the driving force behind the San Diego Padres' offensive effort, recording two home runs in a 5-2 victory over the New York Mets. The away team dominated the scoring sequence, with Tatis Jr. opening the game with a 452-foot blast to left center in the first inning.
He followed that effort with a second home run to right center in the fifth inning, a 379-foot shot that also drove in Matty Cronenworth. These two performances accounted for three of the Padres' five total runs, establishing an early lead that the Mets were unable to overcome despite their home-field advantage.
Mets Attempt Comeback
The New York Mets managed to score twice in an effort to stay within striking distance. Luis Torrens provided the first run for New York, hitting a 417-foot home run to center field in the fifth inning. The Mets added their second run in the eighth inning when Robert Jr. hit a 390-foot home run to center.
However, these efforts were not enough to close the gap, as the Padres maintained their lead throughout the final frames of the contest. The Padres extended their advantage in the seventh inning when a single by France allowed Bowen to score, bringing the total to four for San Diego.
