The City of Pleasanton announced the passing of former Mayor and Councilmember Tom Pico on October 8, 2026. He was 82 years old.
Pico served on the Pleasanton City Council from 1992 to 2000 and as mayor from 2000 to 2004. In recognition of his service, the city will lower flags at the Civic Center to half-staff on Friday, November 13, which is the day of his memorial service. The City Council also adjourned its October 20 meeting in his memory.
Born in Maui, Hawaii, in January 1944, Pico grew up in Antioch and graduated from Antioch High School in 1961. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in June 1966 and served for three years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and a master’s degree from Golden Gate University.
Pico built a long career in finance and accounting before opening his own certified public accountant business in Pleasanton, which he operated until 2016. A longtime resident, he remained active in community causes after leaving office.
