Ohtani Delivers Historic Performance

Shohei Ohtani anchored a dominant offensive display for the Los Angeles Dodgers, driving in five runs and hitting three home runs as the visitors defeated the Colorado Rockies 11-5 at Coors Field on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The Dodgers' attack was relentless, scoring in six different innings to secure the decisive victory before a crowd of 34,609.

Ohtani’s power hitting was the central feature of the game, as he connected for extra-base hits in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.

Scoring Breakdown

The Dodgers established an early lead in the second inning when Mookie Betts doubled to center, allowing Max Muncy to score. The margin widened significantly in the third inning. After Freddie Freeman advanced to second on a single by Will Calhoun, Muncy hit a 461-foot home run to right center, scoring Freeman and Will Calhoun.

The Rockies responded with one run in the same inning via a ground ball by Brendan McCarthy. Ohtani added to the Dodgers' lead with a 428-foot home run to left center in the fifth inning. Betts then grounded into a double play, but Will Calhoun scored, and Muncy advanced to second.

In the sixth inning, Ohtani hit a 452-foot home run to center, scoring Anthony Rendon. Freeman added another run on a single by Will Calhoun. The Rockies scored two more runs in the seventh and ninth innings, but the Dodgers added a final run in the eighth when Freeman doubled to left, allowing Ohtani to score.

Pitching Duel

Blake Snell earned the win for the Dodgers, pitching six innings while allowing two hits and one run. He walked three batters and struck out five. Alex Vesia, Evan Phillips, and Edwin Diaz provided relief for the remainder of the game.

For the Rockies, Tomoyuki Sugano took the loss after five innings, allowing seven hits and six runs. He walked one batter and struck out three. Juan Mejia, TJ Shook, and Troy Johnston completed the pitching staff for Denver.

The Dodgers finished with a record of 75-51, while the Rockies dropped to 50-75.
